Hi. I’m a national reporter for the Associated Press with a focus on law enforcement and race, based in Montgomery, Alabama. At the AP I’ve broken stories on a wide range of topics. I’ve investigated the illegal practice of housing teenagers in adult jails pre-trial, I’ve written about how the suspicious hanging death of a Black man reshaped a rural, predominantly white Alabama county, I’ve done countless spot stories on police brutality in small Alabama cities, I’ve exposed inconsistent federal policy in the January immigration crackdown in Minnesota, I’ve produced multimedia stories about Jeffrey Epstein survivors advocating for transparency, I’ve explored Hulk Hogan’s contradictory legacy for Black wrestling fans and much more.

Before I came to the Associated Press I was a freelance reporter in New York City, where I was raised. I have bylines in THE CITY, WNYC, Reuters, Hell Gate and Crain’s Chicago Business. I won numerous awards for stories that prompted new housing legislation, revealed widespread environmental contamination in public housing and used data to dig into racial segregation in public schools.

I have a masters from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.
